Rest in Peace, Dear Old Casper, Age 7

I will miss my boy. He passed peacefully in the vet's office over the weekend.

He was always curious about life and his surroundings

    1. Thanks, Aileen. Seven years is up in the years for pigs. My experience is that their average lifespan is about 5 years but had another pig pass at 7, and another at 9.

    1. Thanks, Sarah. He had three stones, one of which was inoperable. He received loving comfort care and ate whatever he wanted until he was ready to go.

    2. When I was a kid my dad would take me to his job at the University sometimes. If I was good, I would get to play with the guinea pigs that they had for research. They are quite gentle. I think the experience also had the effect on me to be against the use of animals for research when I became a doctor.

  6. It kills me that they are used for research. I don't like it. :(
