Happy Thanksgiving!

A very small informal gathering for this Thanksgiving.

This is the smallest organic turkey I've ever made weighing in at nine pounds.

Ran out of room for anything green on my plate! Sparkling cider to drink.

Vintage pumpkin pie recipe with my own version (shown above) is here. It's so so (not so-so) good!

  1. Love your table setting Averyl! Makes me want to spend a week in the 50s or 60s. How fun that would be to step back in time for a nice visit. Happy Thanksgiving and a peaceful week and weekend to you!

  2. This is so homey! It's like a step back in time to real food.

The plates are cute. Are they retro or repro?

And totally off the subject... two thumbs up for the butterscotch wall phone coordinating with the wallpaper.

    1. Thank you, Valerie!

The plates are vintage Taylor Smith & Taylor "Cathay" pattern. I bought a set of service for eight including a serving platter and bowl for $36 over ten years ago at a local secondhand/junk shop. They have held up very well having been used daily since then! I have "lost" a few over the years (kitchen klutziness) but replacements are easy to find on ebay.

My phone! Thank you for noticing. : )

  3. What a lovely table setting! Did you have any other sides besides what is pictured?

    1. I was hoping you'd say that! lol. I definitely need to keep the holidays simpler next year as far as the food. I made waayy too much at Thanksgiving again. I don't know why I do that. I want it simpler for Christmas and here on out. :)
