Blog Lurkers Get link Facebook Twitter Pinterest Google+ Email February 22, 2017 Only a very small percentage of my blog readers will leave a comment. I am trying to figure out why some people never want to engage, even anonymously. Sometimes it's disheartening. I welcome your thoughts. Get link Facebook Twitter Pinterest Google+ Email Comments ValerieFebruary 22, 2017 at 5:10 PMI am one of your lurkers...I think I'm kind of shy about putting my thoughts on paper for others to see...and possibly disagree with. I love your blog, and I do read it faithfully. I don't even care about using my name, and I tend to ramble, so maybe that's partly why...I don't want to bore anyone!ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 22, 2017 at 5:19 PMThank you for coming out of lurking,Valerie, even if this one time. I don't make money by doing my blog, so spiritual capital matters. Knowing you love it and read faithfully is payday for me. :) DeleteReplyAndrea CobbFebruary 22, 2017 at 5:47 PMAveryl,You know we're both here: reading, lurking, commenting and smiling at your wit and charm in writing!! The Cobbs :)ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 22, 2017 at 5:49 PMAw! Reminders like this help jog my memory!:D xoxoDeleteReplyAnne DayFebruary 22, 2017 at 7:37 PMHi Averyl,I just love your blog and look forward to reading it. You are very much appreciated. I too love all things vintage. Just such a coziness in the details. Wishing you all things wonderful.AnneReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 23, 2017 at 5:22 AMHi Anne! Thank you! :) :) DeleteReplyMelanie DauerFebruary 22, 2017 at 7:39 PMI've been lurking lately, but not because I stopped reading. Yours is one of the few blogs I actually take time to read. You have such great Content! I know for me that I go thru phases with how much I engage online. But it must seem discouraging to feel like you're putting going yourself out there, taking time and energy, and it's like tumbleweeds rolling out there. I for one will do better cuz I love your blog and it's a two way streetReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 23, 2017 at 5:22 AMMelanie, yes, you have commented and I always enjoy reading your thoughts. Thank you for appreciating my blog!DeleteReplyJenniferFebruary 23, 2017 at 12:26 AMI am a lurker at times, but not because I want to be. I read every post you write and take time to peruse the photos. I think I may have commented a time or two. I love your blog! I am sure there are a lot of us out here! So take heart that you are appreciated! :-)ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 23, 2017 at 9:42 AMJennifer, I recall you commenting in the past, and I will take heart after reading your comment today along with the others. Thank you!DeleteReplyCanyon girlFebruary 23, 2017 at 9:27 AMGood morning, Averyl! You know I usually like to chime in! In fact, I would often like to write more, but worry that others will think me a "blog hog"! I love your updates and photos, and often share them with hubby, who visited Maine as a boy. I'm glad you're getting such a good response from your question! LoisReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 23, 2017 at 9:35 AMLois! You have motivated me on many occasions to keep blogging because of your thoughtful and active participation. Please don't hold back. Thank you! DeleteReplyLoisFebruary 23, 2017 at 9:50 AMWill do! Reading and responding to your blog brings back so many fun memories of my mid-century childhood...some long forgotten. :-) I also took this opportunity to update my profile & come out of the shadows a little more!ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 23, 2017 at 9:53 AMA picture with you and hubby! Love it!DeleteReplyPaula Furtado SantosFebruary 23, 2017 at 10:35 AMHello Averyl! Sometimes I'll leave a comment, but other times, I'm in a rush and only read, but I hope you continue writing, because you've inspired me so many times, about losing weight in a healthy manner and cooking with local and natural products, instead of chemical ones. It reminded me of the mediterranean diet, because we use a lot of fresh ingredients and herbs in our dishes. But sometimes, it's a lot easyer to eat out or heat something in the microwave...My husband and I, went to the States (Miami, Califórnia, Massachusetts) on vacation a few years ago and if someday we happened to go to Maine, I hope we can get together and exchange some recipes and a cup of coffee! :D When I read your blog, it always reminds me of Murder, she wrote, because it was (supposedly) filmed in Maine and I loved to see the series! And if someday you'll come to Portugal, I'll show you some portuguese recipes, based on the mediterranean diet. :)ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 23, 2017 at 10:49 AMHi Paula! Thank you for letting me know that I've inspired you! Yes, coffee/recipe exchnages in Maine (avoid coming in February, ha!) or Portugal would be lovely!DeleteReplyDr. JFebruary 23, 2017 at 4:54 PMInteresting. I've never really had any issues commenting on blogs, but I also comment on Youtube, MSN, an MMA site, and AOL. Responses on those sites can be very nasty. I never engage nor leave a nasty comment, just give an opinion on the topic. Almost every topic on MSN and AOL becomes political. It's very sad really. ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 23, 2017 at 5:27 PMIt's true that news comment sections can be rife with abuse. I didn't know AOL was still around. ha! Thank you for being a regular commenter here!DeleteReplyKitFebruary 23, 2017 at 10:17 PMI think I've commented once, but I am a faithful reader. Not sure why I don't comment more, maybe it's my Minnesota reserve.ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 24, 2017 at 4:38 AMHi, Kit! Glad to know you are reading! Thanks!DeleteReplyscottebakerFebruary 24, 2017 at 12:06 PMI think I read or view pretty much every post, it's too bad they don't offer a like button since I always "like" (enjoy) your posts, but don't necessarily feel I have something to contribute in writing. I can start leaving thumbs up emojis, if blogger would support them :)ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 24, 2017 at 12:21 PMYou're blogging again?! I will have to get caught up (I just clicked your profile). I didn't know you were still reading. :) Blogger does have a thingy that is kind of like "like" but I never enabled it. Let me look into that! Thanks!!DeleteAverylFebruary 24, 2017 at 12:34 PMI enabled it but it's not showing. Bummer. It's probably buggy since it's from the 1990s.DeleteReplyscottebakerFebruary 25, 2017 at 5:55 PMI'm not really blogging again, but I cleaned up and shuttered a bunch of domains and hosting that cost me money, but I wasn't doing anything with them. I decided on WordPress for the themes, re-deployed my personal site and added some blog posts that got attention on my other sites. ReplyDeleteAileenFebruary 28, 2017 at 1:16 PMI try to read and comment as much as I can but sometimes life gets in the way. :( I hope you already know how much you and your blog mean to me. If I'm ever up that way or you are ever down here we MUST get together! :)ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylFebruary 28, 2017 at 1:20 PMAileen you have been a regular contributor for years and I appreciate it! Thank you! And of course I'd love to get together! :)DeleteReplyHeatherMarch 7, 2017 at 12:09 PMI, too, am a lurker! I have your book and have read your blog for years. I get great joy from your writing. I am a proud "square," a "no, I don't think that's a good idea" dorm-mom kind of gal. To be honest, you seem to be the kind of lady I would be friends with, if I lived in your neck of the woods (I'm in Tennessee). However, because I'm an introvert who rarely pokes her head out of her shell, having an obvious online presence, even in comments, is weird to me, lol! I've only ever seen kind comments in your community here, so maybe I should comment more. Either way, your writing absolutely resonates with many of us. Thank you for your dedication to it!ReplyDeleteRepliesAverylMarch 7, 2017 at 12:20 PMHello, Heather. Thank you! That's so very sweet. :) DeleteReplyAdd commentLoad more...
